South African bound cigarrette smugglers doomed

The South African Police Services have intensified their move to eliminate crimninal elements who have been smuggling Zimbabwean produced tobbacco products to South Africa.

For a long time, these criminal elements have been trading these products on Jo'burg streets but their business is said to be very slow because of the move by the SAPS to intensify roadblocks searches in various routes into the city.

The Zimbabwean reports that the South African Revenue Services believes the government loses an estimated R2 billion in tax revenue to cigarette smuggling, which is about the same amount as the legitimate tax revenue.
